Valley Water Mill Pond

Valley Water Mill Pond, a reservoir measuring 13 acres (5.3 ha), is located north of Springfield, Missouri. It is managed by the Missouri Conservation Department and the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks. The reservoir is spring fed with Secchi disk readings over 4 feet (1.2m).

Valley Water Mill Park is where the reservoir is found. The park offers hiking trails, a conference centre, and a picnic area. There are two fishing docks and bank access at the reservoir. Swimming and boating are not permitted. Fishing is permitted. Common fish species include largemouth bass and redear sunfish, bluegill and channel catfish.

Valley Water Mill's original dam was built in 1850s to store water for McCracken Mill, a local gristmill. The Springfield Green County parks department purchased the land and lake that became the park in 1957. The reservoir was reconstructed in 2008 with a maximum depth limit of 14 feet. In 2012, the reservoir was opened for fishing.
